Settle group balances on UPI without the awkward chase
Splitting the bill is only half the job. The hard part is collecting — screenshots of UPI IDs, “sent?”, and a chat that never closes the loop.
NestSplit shows who owes whom after shared spends. You pay outside the app on UPI (or bank transfer), then mark that balance settled so everyone sees the same truth.
How settlement works in NestSplit
Balances are derived from expenses and what you have already marked settled — NestSplit does not hold your money or run a wallet. Open Balances or Settlements, pick a person, pay them on UPI using their UPI ID if they saved it, then confirm the settlement in the app.
- Pay any amount — full or partial settle when you cannot clear everything today
- Use Pay on UPI when a member has added their UPI ID in Settings
- Send a WhatsApp reminder with the amount when someone is slow to pay
Why mark settled in the app
Paying on UPI alone does not update the group ledger. Marking settled closes the IOU so the next grocery run does not restart an old argument. If you settle part of what you owe, the remainder stays visible until you clear it.
Flat, trip, or one-off groups
The same flow works for a PG house, a Goa trip, or a short weekend group. After a trip, settle everyone, then archive the group so it does not mix with ongoing flat bills.
